Johanna Leon is leaving her thirties behind this month and she says that’s more than okay because now, she’s in the best shape of her life—physically, mentally, and emotionally. “I have transformed into someone who actually likes to work out. I’ve become stronger and calmer. I have learned I can push myself beyond my limits. I have found an amazing community and understand how that is important,” she explains. Most importantly, though? “That self care is not selfish, it’s selfless,” says Johanna. “My motivation to stay fit and strong comes from wanting to be healthy for my children and future generations. I want to be able to play with my kids, go on adventures, and be there for them as they grow up. I am investing in my future and setting a positive example for those around me.” How is she managing to do it? Johanna prioritizes six pillars of wellness: nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, limited alcohol, and positive connections. “All of these are imperative to integrate into one’s wellness plan,” says Johanna. "Each pillar is an individual component of wholeness of one’s wellness to meet successful goals. We might not meet 100 percent in each pillar all the time—my goal is to obtain optimum health and wellness and be mindful of what is needed more and when.”
“I have begun to fall in love with this version of me that I am becoming. That more self accepting and self loving version, which I have found through health and wellness.”
As she enters her 40s on her journey to self growth, Johanna is embracing moving into a different stage in life; “I have begun to fall in love with this version of me that I am becoming. That more self accepting and self loving version, which I have found through health and wellness.” And she wants to pay it forward. “I am changing the narrative in my own life. We do not have to be a cookie cutter version of outside expectations of what a corporate leader, or a Mom, should look like. Start living as the person you want to be! Stop the cycle of thinking you're less than, based on critical inner dialogue and social media influences,” she says. “I’m holding myself accountable and making a difference in the world which can have a ripple affect. I found this version of me and I want to help other people find their way, and understanding that through our vulnerability there is strength.” Excited to pursue her education in health and wellness, eager for the opportunity to gain knowledge and pass on this golden ticket of wellness to others seeking it, Johanna says, “Ultimately, I want to make a positive impact on the world with something I am passionate about by promoting wellness and empowering others to live their best lives. Watch out world, I’m just getting started!”
